What's Kalamkari
Pen Kalamkari is a traditional Indian art form that originated from the town of Sri Kalahasti, where skilled artisans use a bamboo pen to hand-paint intricate designs and patterns onto fabric. The process involves applying a mixture of natural dyes and pigments to the fabric using the bamboo pen, which is dipped in the dye and then carefully drawn across the fabric to create delicate lines and motifs. The Pen Kalamkari process is a labor-intensive and time-consuming one, requiring great skill and patience, as each design is carefully crafted by hand, resulting in unique and exquisite pieces of art that are highly prized for their beauty and craftsmanship.
